Adventure

For Audrey's birthday my mom took her on an adventure (and I got to tag along)! We got up early in the morning on Tuesday and headed to the airport. We flew down to Burbank to visit...

The American Girl Place to pick out an American Girl Doll! (A little background: my Grandmothers love for dolls has transferred to all of us. We are always talking about dolls or looking at dolls. I have many fond memories of doll shows and doll stories). We also had a lovely lunch, to which Kit (the newest member of our doll family) was a guest of honor next to the birthday girl.

After visiting the American Girl Place we went out on the town and did a few touristy things before heading back to the airport. We walked along Hollywood Boulevard and looked at the stars (Sam Waterston from Law and Order is my moms favorite). We looked at the hand prints and feet prints at Graumans Chinese Theatre (Audrey liked Harry Potter, Judy Garland, and Shirley Temple). Darth Vader challenged Audrey and Kit to a battle! He was no match for them. We went to the Griffiths Observatory and took pictures with the Hollywood sign behind us and the city view.

Everywhere we went people were saying to Audrey, "Wow, that's an American Girl Doll! What is her name?" Audrey was exhausted at the end. But it was totally worth it. I wonder what we will do when JJ turns eight!

Wow! We love the American Girl dolls around here. Our girls grew up on them and each have their own. Audrey will have to come over to see and play with our girl's collections: cookbooks, craft books, the movies, clothes, etc. In fact, years ago American Girl sold the clothes patterns for many of the dolls. If you ever want to borrow them to make "Kit" some clothes, let me know.
